Community Service Project: Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center

During the fall 2007 semester, students enrolled in the ARTS 305 course at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center worked with visiting young artists and created on a forty foot large-scale mural directly on the walls at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center in preparation for “Restless Planet”, an upcoming exhibit. Students in the ARTS 305 course designed curriculum linked to Art SOLs and Science SOLs. The artwork developed was based on the concept of place: Coastal Desert, Volcanic Mangrove, Red Sea and Peat Swamp.
